ARTIST'S STATEMENT
NEW DIRECTIONS
Landscapes have always been a love of mine. My favourite tree, The Hawthorn, located on Escarpment Sideroad in Caledon, continues to capture my heart. New paintings of this tree in winter, spring and summer have resulted.
In addition, I am exploring new techniques to capture more of the spirit of the land. Glazing medium poured into the paint enables the paint to flow freely in a spontaneous manner, so that only the bones of each painting is captured, without paying too much attention to detail. Often colour is heightened or imagined to allow for a free interpretation of this vibrant land in which I live.
