ABOUT ANNE SHABASON

Inspired by mystical poetry past and present, Anne's current work takes on new dimensions as she expands her choice of media. Using hand made books, collage and painting she captures, in image and text, moments of truth that transcend time and place.

As part of the 2009 Caledon Hills Studio Adventure, Anne and Caledon poet, Jake McArthur, will present a collaboration of poetry and art entitled "pARTners ink/rhyme". Contact Anne to find out the times of the live poetry reading.

ARTIST'S STATEMENT

"I can be inspired by the mystical fourteenth-century poetry of Hafiz, the clarity of Leonard Cohen's lyrics or the wisdom in the writings of a friend. I have always looked for a "truth" that connects me to nature and humanity in a way that suffuses life with meaning. My purpose is to embody that truth in an image that may, in turn, inspire a fellow human being to recognize a truth for him/herself."
